The company also relies on artificial intelligence and machine learning. 300,000 customers in automation worldwide trust in Festo's pneumatic and electric drive solutions. The Festo Group has around 20,000 employees at 250 locations worldwide.
Festo has been setting standards in industrial automation technology and technical education since its beginnings in 1925, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the environment, economy and society.
Digitization is driving Festo forward in all areas of the company. To this end, the company is developing new, future-oriented concepts that rely on the interaction of innovative and energy-efficient technologies, intuitive human-machine collaboration, and training and further education.
Festo's product portfolio
Innovations for the highest possible productivity, global presence, and close system partnerships are Festo's trademarks. In the 1950s, Festo was the first company in Europe to use compressed air as a drive medium in automation. Today, the company offers over 30,000 products and system solutions for pneumatic and electrical automation technology, from which customer-specific applications for a wide range of factory and process automation applications are produced using configurable modular systems.
These include pneumatic and electrical automation technology, servo controllers, motion control, valves, valve terminals, installation-saving connection technology, handling and assembly technology, compressed air preparation, connection technology, vacuum technology, position and quality testing, sensors, and control technology. The core program includes components from all areas of the pneumatic and electrical control chain, with which around 80% of all applications can be implemented. Festo also offers a wide range of modular system solutions and standard handling systems.
Important industries are the automotive industry, food, packaging, electronics and assembly, biotech, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, chemicals and water, as well as the medical technology and laboratory automation segments. Festo also supports all automated process steps in the field of electromobility - from battery production to the manufacture of electric vehicles.
Digitization of the present
Smart products, connectivity, the acquisition and interpretation of data, including via the cloud, and dashboards for visualization already offer added value today. Mechanical, electrical and intelligent connectivity through software solutions are prerequisites for successful digitization, which offers users the right solution intuitively and quickly.
Festo is driving this forward with an open automation architecture and a large product portfolio with axes, motors and controllers and is developing uniform software tools: configurators for smart engineering, the Festo Automation Suite for easy commissioning and the digital maintenance manager Smartenance for safe operation.
Since 2018, Festo's expertise in the field of AI has been greatly expanded. The Festo AX (Festo Automation Experience) software platform is an AI-based software solution that allows production processes to be improved, e.g. with preventive maintenance of assets and machines, monitoring of quality in production or monitoring of energy consumption.
