Polyflex Thermoplastic High Pressure Hoses
Polyflex is the specialist for thermoplastic hoses within the Parker Hannifin Group. Polyflex industrial hoses are used in a variety of industrial and technical applications, starting from standard hydraulics up to ultra-high pressure applications. In addition to thermoplastic hoses, the range also includes suitable fittings. Since the complete hose system is from a single source, optimum performance is ensured.
Thermoplastic hoses
Thermoplastic hoses have considerable advantages over conventional hydraulic hoses. They can be made with very small internal diameters starting from 2mm. Oversized hose systems can be avoided and space and weight can be saved. In addition, thermoplastic hoses are extremely lightweight due to their compact design and can be produced as a continuous hose in lengths of up to 4000 meters.
Hose selection
In order to select the hydraulic hose that is suitable for the respective field of application, various factors should be taken into consideration. Decisive factors include the field of application, operating pressure, the required nominal diameter, media compatibility and chemical resistance of the material, as well as the applicable standards and permits.
Polyester elastomers, polyamide, nylon copolymer and PTFE are available as inner layers. The materials have very different chemical resistances and should be selected very carefully.
Industrial hoses made of PTFE deserve special mention since they are suitable for a wide array of different applications in industry and technology due to the unique properties of the material. PTFE, better known as Teflon®, is resistant to virtually all chemicals and can be used from -70°C to +230°C. A PTFE hose is extremely flexible, has a very smooth surface and therefore minimises pressure drop and deposits on the inside of the hose. However, since the material in the PTFE hose can generate static electricity, a conductive inner layer should be considered to protect sensitive equipment.
Fields of application
Polyflex offers an extensive range of standard hydraulic hoses for general industrial hydraulics and mobile hydraulics, such as pipe cleaning hoses, sewer jetting hoses and other water jetting hoses for high-pressure and ultra high-pressure applications. The range also includes the option of hoses with electrically conductive inner layers, as well as multifunctional hoses with high chemical resistance.
For high-pressure and ultra high-pressure applications, Polyflex produces hydraulic hoses with pressure carriers that are especially sturdy, e.g., made of braided and highly tear-resistant synthetic fibres.
Polyflex offers a selection of specialised industrial hoses for the oil and gas industry. Products offered include natural gas pipelines, e.g., for fuelling hoses at gas filling stations, compressors or chemical plants, which are correspondingly standardised and certified.
Polyflex produces a range of thermoplastic pythons, tubes and fittings for the beverage industry. For example, CO2 hoses and pre-pressure gas lines for beverage dispensing equipment are available, as are PVC hoses suitable for use with foodstuffs.
Fittings
The right fitting is crucial for the optimum performance of a hydraulic hose. Depending on the type of hose, another series of fittings may be more suitable. Fittings offered by Polyflex include metric DIN fittings, BSP fittings, SAE and JIC fittings, ORFS fittings and various flanges.
